Electricity output goes up by 11% in Romania

Romania’s electricity production increased last year by 11.3% over 2013, whereas the net consumption grew by 2% to 53.5 TWh, said Toni Teau, board president of the Romanian electricity transport company Transelectrica.

Last year, the energy export amounted to 7.5 TWh, 3.5 times higher than in 2013 and the highest level since 2004.

The energy import amounted to 1.4 TWh, reports local Mediafax.

Broken down by production type, the hydropower had the largest share, of 30.7%, followed by coal power, with a 26.1% share. Nuclear power covered 17.7%, whereas renewable energy stood for 13.6%.
