Demand for residential building permits goes up in Romania

The number of residential building permits issued in Romania increased by 1.9% in the first five months of the year compared to the same period in 2014, reaching 14,185, according to the National Institute of Statistics.

The demand for residential building permits increased in three of Romania’s regions, namely the South-East, North-East and South-Muntenia regions. In the other four regions, including the Bucharest-Ilfov region, the number of residential building permits went down.

Municipalities issued over 3,600 residential building permits in May, most of them for rural areas (64%). The demand increased by 8.9% compared to April and by 1.9% compared to May 2014.
