Bucharest public transport company wants to buy automated ticket machines

Bucharest’s public transport company RATB intends to buy ticket vending machines and is willing to pay more than EUR 862,000 for them, without VAT, according to a company announcement in the Electronic Public Procurement System (SEAP).

The award procedure should start on September 15, reports local Agerpres. The payment will be made with money from the local budget, within 30 days from the moment the company receives the invoice.

According to the announcement, RATB plans to buy 20 ticket vending machines. The public transport tickets and subscriptions in Bucharest are currently selling via more than 120 ticket booths spread across the city in the busiest bus or tram stops. The tickets or subscriptions are uploaded onto cards, which can also be reloaded via the internet.

RATB operates a complex network of busses, trams and trolleybuses in Bucharest. The metro in Romania’s capital is operated by a different company, Metrorex.
