Almost 1,000 Romanians asked to be removed from Google searches; direct link to form

09 July 2014

Google received 932 requests from Romanians who wanted 4,611 links removed from its search engine, according to the “right to be forgotten”, said Google Romania representatives, quoted by Mediafax newswire.

This comes as a result of a decision from the European Justice Court which says that people can ask Google to remove from their search results links to news, court decisions and other documents that contain inadequate or irrelevant information that violate the right to private life.

In Romania, the 932 requests were received between May 29 and June 30. In Europe, Google received 70,000 such requests in just a month, the largest number coming from France.

People who want links removed from Google’s or other search engines’ search results can apply on a webpage set up for this reason.
