Winter sales trigger 16% increase in Wienerberger’s turnover
Bricks producer Wienerberger posted a turnover of EUR 2 billion in 2011, up 16 percent over the previous year, mainly due to the company’s focus on developing premium products, but also due in part to higher than usual temperatures towards the end of 2011, which allowed work on construction sites longer, according to the company.
Wienerberger’s net profit was EUR 41 million, while the EBITDA also went up by 23 percent. In 2012, the company expects a return to market stability in Central and Eastern Europe, but no estimates were made on this matter, reads a statement of the company.
In Romania, Corneliu Fecioru was recently appointed a new manager of Austrian Wienerberger’s local operations. He is a member of the company’s board for Sales and Marketing, according to the company.
Wienerberger, which entered the Romanian market in 1998, owns factories in Dambovita, Sibiu and Cluj counties. Recently, the company announced its plans to build a new production unit in Romania, with an investment of EUR 22 million. We wrote about it here.
