Cristi Puiu’s latest movie Trois Exercises will have its UK premiere during the festival and will be screened on July 6, 2013, 14:00, at Genesis Cinema. Cristi Puiu is probably best know for his film The Death of Mr Lazarescu, which won Un Certain Regarde at the 2005 Cannes film festival. He has also won a Golden Bear at the Berlinale with Un cartuş de Kent şi un pachet de cafea/A Pack of Kent and a Packet of Coffee.

Rocker, directed by Romanian Marian Crisan, is the second movie to be screened at the London film festival, on July 8, 18:00, at Rich Mix Cinema. The screening will be followed by a Q&A session with actor Alin State.

The movie tells the story of Victor, a 45-year old rocker, whose love for his son Florin exceeds the limits of what is socially and morally acceptable. Florin is a drug addict and Victor, desperate and ready to overcome any obstacle to ensure his son’s happiness, ends up stealing. The movie explores the profound human relationship between father and son, the limits such a relationship can reach.
