Telekom Romania sees slight decrease in revenues in first half

Telekom Romania recorded total revenues of EUR 466 million in the first six months of this year, down 2.1% compared to the same period last year.

The adjusted operating profit (EBITDA) stagnated at EUR 76 million during this period, according to Deutsche Telekom (DT), the group’s indirect shareholder.

Telekom Romania brings together the operations of former Romtelecom and Cosmote, currently Telekom Romania Communications and Telekom Romania Mobile Communications.

The group’s number of mobile phone customers went down by 10.7% in the past year, reaching 5.27 million at the end of June. Of the total number, 1.95 million were subscribers whereas 3.95 had pre-paid cards. The decline in fixed telephony continued in the first six months of this year. The number of lines dropped from over 2 million in June 2016 to 1.9 million in June this year. Television services reached 1.46 million customers, similar to the result recorded at the end of June 2016.

The fixed service revenues amounted to EUR 207 million in the first six months of the year, down 3.8% year-on-year, while the mobile revenues decreased by 2.8% to EUR 207 million. The retail customer segment brought revenues of EUR 288 million between January and June this year, compared to EUR 305 million during the same period last year. The corporate segment dropped to EUR 90 million from EUR 106 million in the first half of last year.
