Sibiu mayor wants 35% of votes in first round of presidential elections in Romania

Klaus Iohannis, the mayor of Sibiu and president of the National Liberal Party PNL in Romania, expects to get 35% of votes in the first round of presidential elections to be organized this autumn, close to the result estimated for Prime Minister Victor Ponta – 36%. In the second round, he expects to face Ponta, the Social Democrat candidate, reports local Agerpres.

The first round of this year’s presidential elections is scheduled for November 2, while the second round will take place on November 16. Some 18 million Romanians have the right to vote, but almost 3 million of them are abroad.
