Shukar Collective Project documentary screened at the Romanian Cultural Institute in Bucharest

The Romanian Cultural Institute in Bucharest will organize the screening of the Shukar Collective Project documentary on December 16, from 18,00 hours. The screening will take place at the ICR headquarters, 38 Aleea Alexandru in Bucharest. The director Matei – Alexandru Mocanu will also attend the screening. Entry to the event is free.

The documentary was produced by HBO Central Europe and follows the story of a band of Romanian gipsies – Napoleon, Tamango and Classic and of those who discovered them – DJ Vasile, Matze, Vlaicu Golcea, Dan Handrabur.

The band used to play a mix of traditional gypsy (Romanes) music and electronic. The name of the band stems from the Romanes word Sucar, which means fine.

Shukar Collective participated at Brighton Fringe Festival on the 2nd of may 2010, a day after their concert in the Brixton neighborhood, London, where the electro-pop clubs are always full. This mini-tour was done with the help and support of The Romanian Cultural Institute, from London.
