Romania's six-member team gets six medals at International Math Olympiad in Colombia

Romania's team has won six medals at the recent International Math Olympiad in Santa Maria, Colombia, which took place between July 18 and 27. Team Romania (in picture) got three silver medals and three bronze ones.

Romanian Omer Cerrahoglu, an 11th grader from Baia Mare, pinned his fifth medal at the International Olympiad, a silver one this year. He has been winning medals at his every competition attendance since 2009. His track record includes two gold and three silver medals.

Two more silver medals this year went to Ştefan Spătaru, who got the gold last year, and Marius-Ioan Bocanu, both 10th graders at the International Informatics Highschool in Bucharest.

The three bronze medals were awarded to Ştefan-Cosmin Gramatovici, from Tudor Vianu highschool in Bucharest, and to Hai Tran Bah and Andrei-Viorel Bud, both from the International Informatics Highschool in Bucharest.

This year's edition of the International Math Olympiad in Santa Maria brought together 547 participants from 103 countries. Asian countries, Russia and the US dominated this year's Olympiad.
