Romanian officials discover EUR 7.7 mln fraud in Constanta

Commissioners from Romania's fraud squad have uncovered a tax evasion scheme that cost the state budget around EUR 7.76 million, according to the local media. The company, based in Lazu, near Constanta, made fictitious deliveries of diesel to cheat the system.

Constanta's fraud squad have had a busy few weeks. According to a press release, between July 24 and August they checked 775 businesses operating in the coastal resorts and the grain supply industry in the county.

Following their investigations, they issued 480 fines totaling over EUR 220,000.
