Romanian Mihai Purcarea becomes chief investment officer for Erste Asset Management in Romania

Erste Asset Management named Romanian Mihai Purcarea as its Chief Investment Officer. At 29, Purcarea becomes one of the youngest investment managers in Romania.Erste Asset Management has assets of some EUR 690 million, and its largest fund is BCR Monetar.

Purcarea, a 2005 Financing and Banking Management graduate, replaced 36-year old Nicolae Albu, who went to to run the office of the State Treasury's head.

Erste Asset Management has over 100,000 customers who invested in the mutual funds managed by Erste.

Mihai Purcarea joined BCR Asset Management in 2006 and was promoted to portfolio manager in 2007, then became fund manager in 2009.
