Romanian joins Center for European Policy Analysis as adviser on energy security

Alexandra Gătej, former Unilever chairperson for Southern Europe, and former presidential adviser in Romania, has joined the Center for European Policy Analysis  (CEPA) as senior adviser.

She will provide counsel and analysis on energy security issues in Romania and the Black Sea region and lead CEPA program efforts in Bucharest. Gatej is the second Romanian among Central and Eastern European experts at CEPA, joining Corina Rebegea, founder of the CEPA U.S.-Romania Initiative.

Gatej also worked for Unilever in Italy and the Czech Republic for more than eight years, gaining experience in understanding Central and Eastern Europe and the Balkans.

Gătej holds a Ph.D. in Cybernetics from the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest, Romania, and has participated in a number of post graduate executive education programs in the United States, including The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania (2008) and The Kennedy School at Harvard University (2010).

She currently runs her own strategic advisory consultancy and is the President of the Board for Romanian Passenger Railways. She is also a founding member of the Aspen Institute of Romania (2005) and the Energy Policy Group (2014).

Gatej has served on the boards of the International Advertising Association's Romanian Chapter, the Romanian Association of FMCG Companies and the American School in Bucharest. She was also President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Romania (2008-2009; 2011-2012).
