Romanian Government wants to reduce VAT for organic products

03 December 2014

The Romanian Government wants to reduce VAT from 24% to 19% at least for organic products next year, said Darius Valcov, the Minister-delegate for Budget, reports Hotnews.ro.

He wants fiscal stimulus measures for the 2015 budget, possibly VAT reduction, Valcov said at the end of November. There won't be any increases in taxes next year and the budget deficit for 2015 will be 1.4%, except for co-financing, he added.

Member of European Parliament (MEP) Daciana Sarbu, who is also a Social Democrat Party (PSD) member and a great supporter of organic products, said earlier this year that she understood from her husband, Prime Minister Victor Ponta’s statements, that these products will benefit from reduced VAT starting January 1, 2015.
