Romanian cloud computing company poaches former IBM Romania CEO to steer regional expansion

Bogdan Balaci (in picture), the former CEO of IBM Romania, has moved to the helm of Romanian cloud computing company Ymens, which hopes to become a regional player. Ymens, which offers cloud solutions for small and medium enterprises, plans to expand regionally, and "the experience on the Romanian market will be very valuable for our regional expansion plans,” said Balaci.

The Romanian, who has 23 years of experience in the IT sector, over six of which in management positions, left IBM Romania in November 2012.

After his appointment, Catalin Butunoi, the former general manager of Ymens, will become country manager for Romania.

Ymens was created by Teamnet Group, which invested EUR 1 million in its development. The platform was launched in June 2010 under the initiative of Bogdan Padiu, a Romanian entrepreneur in the IT sector and one of the founders of TeamNet.

Balaci had worked with IBM since 1999, after working the banking sector in the UK for four years and being a researcher at the Romanian Academy for two years in the early 90s. He holds an MBA from the Henley Business School in UK and a degree in geo-dynamics from the University in Bucharest.
