Romania has won the gold at the European Fencing Championships in Strasbourg, where it beat the Russian team in the epee competition.

The team made of Ana Maria Branza, Maria Udrea, Simona Popa and Simona Gherman first beat Italy in the semi-finals, and then Russia in the finals, to land the gold.

Last year, Romania won the silver in this competition, and the bronze in the World Championship, where it lost against Russia.
