Finnish metal construction materials producer Rautaruukki saw its turnover up a quarter in Central and Eastern Europe ( CEE ) in 2011, reaching some EUR 363 million. Romania is the company's biggest production base in the region. The Romanian factory is the main supplier of Ruukki Construction's products in the region, while the component divisions for most of the CEE countries are led by Romanian Marian Parvu. The company's regional sales brought 13 percent in the group's overall sales last year, when rhe group's turnover was of EUR 2.7 billion.

Ruukki Romania, which hopes for a 10 percent increase in its business this year, invested around EUR 35 million in a greenfield factory in Bolintin Deal, near capital Bucharest. The Romanian factory, where construction work started in 2007, was the company's biggest investment outside home base Finland.

Ruukki Romania posted a growth in business of 70 percent in the first nine months of 2011, compared to the same period in 2010, according to an earlier statement from the company.
