Romania must send a message to neighboring countries Ukraine, the Republic of Moldova and Georgia that the path towards the EU is the right one, said Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta, who will visit Ukrainian capital Kiev, after visiting Chisinau in the Republic of Moldova.

“I believe the economic sector and very clear political stances are very important in showing the Russian Federation and Mr. Putin that illegal actions cannot go unpunished; but on the other hand – and this message comes from a country which came from communism and only had 25 years of democracy – European and the US have an obligation to prove the citizens of Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia that their lives will improve, they will have better opportunities, they will be equal citizens of Europe,” said Ponta in an interview for CNN, quoted by Mediafax.
