Japan will continue to support the Sibiu International Theater Festival in Romania, where it will have five theater companies, with a total budget of EUR 1.7 million. All five companies have confirmed their participation to the festival, according to festival organizers' representatives, despite the situation in Japan, which has been recently shaken by earthquakes and tsunami.

The EU-Japan Fest Commitett, the Japanese counterpart of the Romanian Culture Ministry, allotted a budget of EUR 1.7 million for the festival in 2010, and is expected to allot a similar amount this year.

The Sibiu International Theater Festival will bring participants from 70 countries in 350 events which will take place between May 27 and June 5. This will be the 18th edition of the event and will include dance, theater, music performances in traditional event halls and on the street.
