Irish cement producer CRH would like to buy Lafarge’s assets, including those in Romania, which would have to be sold to move along the Lafarge – Holcim merger, according to Reuters.

All the Lafarge operations in Romania will be sold – two cement factories, at Medgidia and Hoghiz, and a grinding station at Targu Jiu. Negotiations with potential buyers over the assets on sale started in August, but Holcim did not comment on CRH’s interest.

Four other associations are evaluating the purchase. One of the consortia is made of Blackstone, Cinven and Canada CPP, and another, by Advent and BC Partners.
