Holcim names Romanian as new CEO of Serbian subsidiary

Holcim has named Romanian Claudiu Soare as CEO of Holcim Serbia. He has worked for Holcim since 2000, serving first with the Romanian division before becoming a project leader for Holcim Services Europe, Middle East and Asia, based in Madrid. Claudiu Soare (in picture) holds a Master's degree in Electro-Mechanical Engineering and an MBA.

It's not the first senior appointment for Romanians within the Holcim Group; in fact the firm descibes Romania as something of a source for fresh faces in management.

Holcim Romania owns two cement plants in Campulung and Alesd, a grinding station and a cement terminal in Turda, 16 ecological ready-mix plants, five aggregates plants, two special binders plants and a cement terminal in Bucharest. The local subsidiary of Holcim was started 15 years ago and now employs over 1,000 people in Romania.

At a group level, Holcim holds majority and minority interests in companies and subsidiaries in around 70 countries around the world. The company was founded and Switzerland in 1912 and now rates itself as one of the leading suppliers of cement and aggregates in the world.
