Govt. builds EUR 12 mln stadium in southern Romania
Romania’s Development Ministry has launched into public debate two government decisions that provide the construction of a stadium in Alexandria, Teleorman county, in Southern Romania.
The investment amounts to RON 55.7 million (EUR 12.2 million), and will be made via the National Investments Company (CNI). The city of Alexandria will only have a contribution of about EUR 300,000, according to the government decision cited by local Economica.net.
The stadium will have a total capacity for almost 5,500 spectators and a built area of 15,795 sqm. It will take about 18 months to be ready.
Alexandria needs a new stadium because the current one has a number of seats below the requirement for the First League, doesn’t benefit from a nocturnal system and also lacks the necessary places for the written media and the TV, according to the government decision.
The Social-Democrat president Liviu Dragnea, considered the most influential politician in Romania at the moment, is born in the Teleorman county, and was prefect and president of the local county council for 16 years.
