Former president of Romania’s Financial Surveillance Authority gets home arrest

The former president of Romania’s Financial Surveillance Authority ASF Dan Radu Rusanu was released on Monday (June 23) from police custody and will move to house arrest, the court has decided. Rusanu is being investigated for corruption in a file involving the insurance company Carpatica Asig.

In the case of Romanian businessmen Ilie Carabulea and Marian Marzac, the preventive arrest was also replaced with home arrest, reports Mediafax. The two businessmen are being investigated in the same corruption case.

Carabulea, who owns the bank Banca Carpatica, as well as insurance company Carpatica Asigurari, the latter via companies Atlassib and Transcar, is accused of trading influence and bribery together with  Marian Mirzac.

Rusanu was arrested in the same case.
