State-controlled Romgaz, the largest natural gas producer in Romania has appointed Sorana Baciu as provisional administrator, after David Harris Klingensmith, one of the administration board members decided to step down, according to a report sent to the Bucharest Stock Exchange.

Sorana Baciu is the former strategy director of the largest Romanian oil & gas company OMV Petrom, Romgaz's only rival on the gas market.

Sorana Baciu's mandate will start on January 18, 2015, Romgaz announced .

Sorana Baciu was strategy director with OMV Petrom for the last seven years. About five months ago, she left the company to open her own business, Acgenio, a consulting firm focused primarily on small and medium businesses.

Romgaz recorded a EUR 247 million profit in the first nine months of 2014, up 40% year-on-year.
