The second edition of the already famous carnival in the Romanian seaside resort Mamaia, in Constanta county, is scheduled to start with the first parade of the season next weekend on July 6, and Constanta mayor Radu Mazare will dress up as Louis XIV of France for the event. The mayor, who got his inspiration for starting the yearly carnival from the Rio de Janeiro carnival, already inspected the parade floats to choose the one he'll be parading on, and said he was a bit disappointed as he was expecting more grandiose and more imaginative floats.

“I will be costumed as Louis XIV of France, who had 18 kids and reigned for 72 years,” said Mazare, who added he can find similarities between himself and the historic figure, when it comes to the number of lovers and to the prosperous time.

The first parade of the season will start on July 6 at 20,00 in Mamaia, from the parking lot near the Telegondola, close to Perla hotel, and cross the resort to the Cazino square. Representatives of clubs and show girls will be parading on the especially created parade floats, together with the Constanta mayor. This year, several clubs will put together parade floats: Ego, Fratelli, Bellagio, Coyote Ugly, Luv, Crema, Crush, Tan Tan, Le Gaga, Megalos, Princess.

Last year, the shows were held every week during the summer, in order to promote Mamaia as the main go-to seaside resort in Romania.

The Constanta mayor Radu Mazare, member of the Social Democratic Party PSD is known for his eccentric outfits, the parties and Brazil – like carnivals. Last year, he dressed up as a sultan, as well as a Spartan warrior, among others.
