Bucharest's landmark People's Palace goes green for St Patrick's Day

people's palaceAs Bucharest gears up for what seem likely to be the city's biggest ever St Patrick's Day celebrations, the Casa Poporului landmark is going green to mark Ireland's national day. Like other landmark buildings around the world, including the Sydney Opera House, The Empire State Building, The Leaning Tower of Pisa and the Burj al Arab in Dubai, Bucharest's Casa Poporului (the People's Palace) will be illuminated with green light for St Patrick's Day.

The lights go on this evening (March 15 ) at 19:00 and Europe's biggest building will remain lit up in green until Sunday. There are five day's of events in the capital for St Patrick's Day this year, kicking off with the ball tonight and followed by a number of events organized in partnership with the Irish Embassy.

Monday, March 18

19:00 - Classical Music Concert - Vyvienne Long and Adagio String Quartet – at the Anglican Church

Tuesday, March 19

19:00 – Gala concert with Irish soprano and tenor Florin Ormenisan Patricia Brady, Military Orchestra at the Cercul Militar
