Bucharest Stock Exchange chooses Romanian Victor Cionga at its helm

19 July 2012

Victor Cionga, the managing partner of AZ Capital Advisors was named general manager of the Bucharest Stock Exchange, eight months after Valentin Ionescu was dismissed from the helm of the BSE.

Cionga, who has run his own consultancy firm since 20007, when he withdrew from Raiffeisen Capital Investment, last year was involved in the deal for the secondary listing of Petrom on the Bucharest Stock Exchange, on behalf of Renaissance Capital, which won the tender to intermediate the deal. The secondary listing was however unsuccessful.

Cionga, a Physics graduate from the Bucharest University in 1980, holds an EMBA from the Washington University in Seattle and from the Romanian Economic Sciences Academy's joint EMBA program.

The Bucharest Stock Exchange hired head hunter Radu Furnica to search for a CEO across Europe and the recruitment process took several months. Cionga will run the BSE for the next two years.
