Bucharest International Marathon brings traffic restrictions on several streets in Romanian capital

Several streets in Bucharest will be closed between October 7 and October 9, 2011, for the Raiffeisen Bank Bucharest International Marathon, according to the organizers. Saturday, October 8, traffic will be restricted in Alba Iulia Square and Unirii Boulevard between 8:00 hours and 12:00 hours.

On October 9, the traffic will be restricted between 6:00 hours and 16:00 hours, on several routes.  The first route with traffic restrictions, where the Gillette Race will take place, includes Alba Iulia Square until the first light to Unirea, Lucian Blaga St., Unirii Blvd., Burebista  Blvd., and Decebal Blvd. The second route, where the Competitive Races will be hold, includes Alba Iulia Square, Unirii Blvd., Bratianu Blvd., the bridge on Splaiul Unirii St. until the intersection with Mihai bravu St., Marasesti Passage, Mircea Voda Blvd., Burebista Blvd., Decebal Blvd. Check the map here.

Bucharest International Marathon started as international marathon in 2008, being part of International Streets Marathon Association and included in the international official marathon races calendar. In 2010 the marathon had 1,800 runners for the competitive races and over 2,000 persons for Popular Race and Children Race. Athletes came from Romania and other 20 countries, like Kenya, Ethiopia, Italy, UK, USA, Germany, Israel,  France, Japan, Spain, Sweden, Ireland, Hungary, Poland, Serbia, Moldavia.
