Aeroitalia to operate regular flights from Bucharest’s Baneasa airport

17 May 2023

Italian airline Aeroitalia is set to start operating regular flights from the Aurel Vlaicu International Airport in Baneasa, northern Bucharest, next month. The first flight is scheduled for June 2, with Rome as the destination, News.ro reported.

Aeroitalia will thus be the first air carrier to operate regular flights from Bucharest’s Baneasa airport.

“Thanks to the connections operated by Aeroitalia to and from Rome Fiumicino Airport, passengers from Bucharest will also be able to go to Alghero, Bergamo, Comiso, Olbia and Palermo with a single ticket, guaranteed connection, with the checked baggage sent directly to the final destination,” the Bucharest Airports Company said.

The Aurel Vlaicu Baneasa Airport reopened last summer after refurbishment works. It was primarily used for domestic and low-cost flights before closing to commercial flights in 2012.
