Over 212,000 Romanians were registered last year in Germany.

They were the second-biggest group of immigrants to Germany, after Syrians, with 326,000 people, and Poles, with 190,000, reports local Agerpres.

At the end of 2014, over 355,000 Romanians were officially living in Germany. Almost 88,000 of them arrived in the country in 2014.

About 2.1 million people moved to Germany last year, up 46% compared to 2014. The difference between the number of arrivals and departures reached a historic level of 1.1 million.

The high numbers are not only due to the refugees coming from the Middle East. They were also influenced by the high number of immigrants from EU countries searching for jobs in Germany.
