Wim Fisette: Halep’s decision to end our collaboration was influenced by people around her

Belgian coach Wim Fisette said he was saddened by Simona Halep’s decision to end their collaboration, adding that the Romanian tennis player was influenced by people around her when taking this decision, according to sport.be, reports local Mediafax.

“We had a good season, everything was at a high level. But she wasn’t comfortable in this situation. Especially considering the communication, it was difficult for her. It is never easy with a foreign coach. I couldn’t always be in Bucharest. And when I was, she had to take care of me, book hotels and other things. We had a great year together and there wouldn’t have been any problem for me to keep working under the same conditions, but I felt that they wanted a complete Romanian team. In the end, the situation was difficult for her. She was influenced by the entourage,” said Fisette.

The coach also said that Halep went through many changes this year, turning from a “shy” girl into an international star. According to him, Simona Halep gives great importance to her country and wants a Romanian coach.

“The future will determine if they took the best decision. I think it’s unfortunate it ended. It was a difficult and exhausting year for her, going in and out of Romania all the time. I knew such a project couldn’t last for long, but I am proud of the work we have done. I think I could have made her an even better player,” Fisette added, reports Mediafax.

Simona Halep decided last week to end her collaboration with Belgian coach Wim Fissette. The two started working together in January 2014.
