Widespread snow and blizzards in Romania from December 5

A weather warning for snow and blizzards across the country has been issued by the National Administration of Meteorology. The forecast warns of wintry conditions from the morning of December 5 throughout Romania. In Maramures the traffic on DN 18 is already experiencing difficulties because of snow and fog, according to the local press.

From 06:00 on Wednesday, December 5, snow cover is expected, especially in the south-west, central, north and mountain areas.

Traffic on the DN 18 in the Prislov Pass and the Gutai Pass was also difficult this morning ( December 4) because of fog and snow.

In the last few hours precipitation, has fallen fell as snow in large areas. Winds were low to moderate with some temporary intensification of up to 43 km per hour in Baia Mare. Current temperatures range from -12°C in some mountain areas up to +8°C in the south of the country, according to the National Administration of Meteorology. Mountain snow is measuring up to 25 centimeters at Varful Iezer(Iezer Peak).
