Vienna Port & Austrian company, interested in Romanian port

Representatives of the Vienna Port and of the Austrian steel group Voestalpine visited on June 11 the Constanta Port for the first time.

Vienna Port’s management is interested in carrying out container freight traffic from Austria to the Middle East, Far East and the Black Sea region, through Constanta, reports local Economica.net.

The Vienna Port has developed an ever-expanding container terminal, scrolling 480,000 TEUs last year.

Voestalpine’s representatives are interested in transporting ore and coal to their plant in Linz - Austria through Constanta. Its annual demand reaches 10 million tonnes.

In 2014, freight traffic between the port of Constanta and Austrian ports amounted to 2.4 million tonnes.
