Valentine’s Day in Romania- the most popular local destinations

Hotel booking will increase by 15% between February 13 and February 15, according to a recent study conducted by hotel booking platform HotelGuru.ro. Most of those who choose not to spend Valentine’s Day at home will go to Prahova Valley (23%) and Transylvania (22%), while Sibiu, Sighisoara and Brasov are considered the most romantic places.

February also brings an increase in online booking, compared to other months of the year. The occupation rate will be of over 53% in this period.

Hotels in Romania have prepared promotional packages for this special day, which include access to swimming pool and fitness, romantic dinners and relaxing massages. Couples will also receive gifts and additional services such as champagne in the room and special dinners.

Over 70% of respondents said they would also include spa & wellness packages among additional services for Valentine’s Day.

Some of the 600 respondents to the survey chose some unique destinations for this year’s Valentine’s Day, such as Harmonie Complex – a property that features unique tree houses and cottages, located in Prahova Valley (36%), Carpatia Express train hotel in Maramures (32%) and the Ice Hotel at Balea Lake (22%).

Some 80% of respondents plan a one-day or maximum two-day trip for Valentine’s Day and the maximum budget is of RON 400 – RON 600 (EUR 90 – EUR 135).

The study was conducted between February 4 and February 11, 2015.
