UPC adds more Internet subscribers in Romania

Telecom company UPC ended the first quarter of 2015 with 444,000 Internet subscribers in Romania, 10,500 more than at the end of December 2014.

The number of telephony subscribers also went slightly up to 313,300 while the number of video subscribers decreased to 1.17 million, according to a recent report of parent group Liberty Global.

The total number of subscription contracts increased by 2,300 in the first quarter, compared to end-December 2014, to 1.92 million. UPC also had 317,200 DTH subscribers in Romania at the end of March this year.

UPC Romania ended 2014 with revenues of USD 173 million, up 6% year-on-year, mainly due to the positive evolution of Internet services.

UPC is part of Liberty Global group and is one of the main cable TV and fixed internet and telephony providers in Romania. Its main competitors are Romanian group RCS&RDS and Telekom.
