31 August 2020

The Babeş-Bolyai University (UBB) in Cluj-Napoca, in western Romania, and US company EON Reality have released the final version of the VR-Mind product.

The product uses virtual technology to help in psychological regulation, UBB explained.

“The VR-Mind product, derived from advanced psychological research, aims to train and retrain the human mind to prevent emotional disorders; it can be used as a module in more complex psychotherapeutic treatments, including in promoting mental health. The focus is on identifying and modifying the attention, interpretation, and memory-related cognitive distortions (cognitive bias modification) through tasks/ games performed in virtual reality,” according to a UBB press release.

The prototype was launched in 2018. It has been improved since after testing and feedback. The result is a product “ready to be disseminated in the socio-economic environment (as a research and psychological practice technology, including for self-therapy).”

The product is already used in research carried out at UBB or in clinical services validated by UBB’s PsyTec Psychology Clinic.
