Turkish Airlines will start running flights connecting Romania's seaside city of Constanta to Turkish capital Istanbul in April. From April 26, the airline will run three flights a week on the new connection, according to Mihail Kogalniceanu Airport representatives in Constanta. These will add to the existing flights operated from the Henri Coanda – or Otopeni airport in Bucharest.

The Mihail Kogalniceanu Airport in Constanta had a little over 94,000 passengers last year, an increase of 11 percent on the previous year.

Turkish Airlines carried in 2012 over 39 million passengers, which was already the target for 2013. In the first nine months of 2012, the airline had a profit of EUR 268 million, slightly higher than in the same period of 2011. Turkish Airlines is 49.12 percent owned by the Republic of Turkey, with the rest being publicly traded.
