Trade deficit up EUR 522 mln for Romania in first 11 months of 2012

Romania's trade deficit was up in the first 11 months of 2012, to some EUR 8.67 billion, an increase of some EUR 522 million, according to data from the country's Statistics Office.

Exports stood at EUR 41.9 billion, while imports were of EUR 50.5 billion. Compared to the first 11 months of 2011, exports were up 5 percent when expressed in RON, but down 0.2 percent when expressed in EUR. Imports were also up 5.3 percent in RON, but flat in EUR.

Cars and transport equipment made up 40.5 percent of the exports, as well as 33.6 percent of imports, while other manufactured goods accounted for 34.3 percent of exports and 29.6 percent of imports.

In November 2012, exports and imports were close, at EUR 4.2 billion and EUR 4.6 billion respectively. This placed the deficit at only EUR 409 million, down on the EUR 516 million deficit in November the year before.
