Ten companies submit bids to build new highway segment in Romania

15 October 2015

Ten companies and joint ventures have submitted bids to build the Rasnov-Cristian highway, the first segment of the Comarnic-Brasov highway, which was auctioned by Romania’s Highways Company CNADNR.

According to government sources, the Spanish company Copisa has offered the lowest price for building the 6-km highway segment, reports local Digi24. The firm has asked about EUR 3.5 million per km, or EUR 21 million in total.

The bidding companies include European construction firms such as Strabag or Max Boegl, as well as Romanian constructors such as UMB or Euroconstruct.

After three failed attempts to build the Comarnic-Brasov highway by public private partnership, the Government has auctioned again the highway, which could be built with money from the state budget.
