US group enters Romanian restaurant market
US group Sbarro will enter the local restaurant market this fall. It will open a restaurant in Bucharest Mall, reports local Ziarul Financiar.
Sbarro, which launched in the US more than 50 years ago, specializes in pizzas and other types of Italian food.
This is the second large international brand entering Romania’s restaurant market this year, after Taco Bell. Both brands will operate under a franchise system in Romania.
The owners of the Bulgarian restaurant group Happy will run the Sbarro franchise in Romania.
The local restaurant market is estimated at about RON 6 billion (EUR 1.3 billion), without including fast-food restaurants.
