Romania's IT industry goes up by 13%

11 June 2015

The local IT industry increased by 13% last year, to EUR 2.4 billion. The revenues in the software and IT services industry could also go up by 14% this year, according to the Employers' Association of the Software and Services Industry (ANIS) and Pierre Audoin Consultants (PAC).

The annual growth rate for the next three years would reach 11%, they predict, reports local Wall-street.ro.

About 65% of the last year’s revenues came from exports, up compared to 2013, when the exports had a 60% share in the local IT industry.

The growth rate in the IT industry is four times bigger than the one estimated for the entire industry, said Teodor Blidarus, vice-president ANIS.

In 2014, the IT industry had a 6% share in the GDP, which is the biggest slice so far.
