Romania’s Halep says WTA ranking is not important, she will do her best in Singapore finals

16 October 2014

Romania’s tennis player Simona Halep has recovered after the recent injury suffered at China Open and she is ready for the WTA Finals to be organized in Singapore.

“I am nervous because I go to a tournament and that always makes me nervous, but they are positive emotions; I really want it to make it to this tournament this year so I will fully enjoy my participation and I will do my best,” said Halep, cited by local Digisport.

She also added that the place in the WTA rankings is not so important, she just likes to play and win as many games as possible. “I think the ranking will not matter as much as how you play a game or what you do at a tournament,” said Halep.

The Romanian tennis player will lose another position in the WTA rankings, going down to number 4 from the current third place.
