Romania’s Government plans to grant a EUR 10 million financial aid to the Cantacuzino National Institute of Research, to cover its debts to the state budget and its suppliers. The Government needs to notify the European Commission about the aid.

The Cantacuzino Institute, which does research in microbiology, immunology and molecular biology, could close down anytime, due to its huge debts.

The Government created a special commission to manage the situation, which includes the Finance, Education and Health Ministers.
