daniel_chitoiu_gov_roA total of 167 jobs, including 20 leadership positions, have been cut at Romania's Ministry of Finance as part of a restructuring scheme. The reduction in positions represents 9 percent of the total posts and seven departments within the Ministry will be abolished, according to a restructuring project.

Of the 167 positions, 35 are vacant and 132 were taken over by the European Funds Ministry. The reorganization in the Finance Ministry, led by Daniel Chitoiu (in picture), also includes the creation of new departments, including a new Verification and Authorization department. “Vacancies remaining after the reduction within the Ministry will be distributed mainly to a newly established structure, the verification and authorization department,” reads a memorandum accompanying the draft restructuring proposal.

Also included in the plans is the setting up of a team to evaluate projects wholly or partially funded by the government. The new department will asses the viability and cost effectiveness of proposed schemes receiving money from the state budget.
