Romania's Finance Minister promises rewards for disciplined taxpayers

14 October 2015

Romania’s Finance Minister Eugen Teodorovici has promised a reward mechanism for the taxpayers who pay their taxes on time.

He made this statement as the Government has decided to erase the penalties for those who were late in paying their contributions, through an Emergency Ordinance. The Government will approve the project on the fiscal amnesty in a few days, according to Teodorovici, reports local Capital.ro.

Both companies and individuals with budgetary debt outstanding on September 30, 2015 will have their penalties erased if they pay their overdue taxes by March 31, 2016. There should be some incentives for those who pay their taxes on time, so that it encourages them to behave similarly in the future, the minister said.
