Romania’s car sales increase, following European trend

Romania’s new car registrations increased by 6.4% in the first five months of the year compared to the same period in 2014, reaching almost 26,000 units.

The evolution was similar to that of the European car market, which rose by 6.8% in the first five months of the year, to 5.8 million cars. Spain’s new car registrations grew by more than a fifth, whereas the car sales in Italy went up by 15%, and in the UK by 5.7%.

Dacia deliveries in the EU advanced by 7% between January and May, to almost 166,000 units. Dacia’s market share thus reached 2.9%.

In May, the new car sales rose by 1.3% in the EU, whereas the new car registrations in Romania dropped by 1.2% to 6,000 units.
