Romanian wins the women’s Qatar Open table tennis competition
Romanian table tennis player Elizabeta Samara won the women’s singles title at Qatar Open in Doha on Sunday, February 22, 2015.
She produced a surprise by defeating Germany’s Han Ying, one of the tournament’s favorites.
Samara won the final match in four straight games, ended 11-6, 12-10, 11-6, 11-9.
The title in Doha is the first Super Series win for the Romanian player and her third overall triumph. She had previously won two titles in Brazil (2013) and the Czech Republic (2014).
