Romanian Tourism Ministry halts payments to THR-TNS until clarifications on logo debate

The Romanian Tourism Ministry has asked the consortium made of THR Asesores en Turismo, Hoteliere e Recreation and Taylor Nelson Sofres to come up with an answer to the recent media reports pointing out to the similarity between one of the elements of Romania's tourism logo and another logo which was on sale on the Internet.

The Tourism Ministry said it has not made any payments to the consortium and will not pay anything until the issues will be clarified.

Romania has recently launched a new tourism campaign, under the slogan 'Explore the Carpathian garden', whose logo component, a green leaf, is similar to another one which is on sale, at a much lower price, on the Internet. The contract between the Romanian state and the consortium states the brand should be unique and free of any copyright infringements.

The value of the contract with THR-TNS was of EUR 900,000 and included quantitative and qualitative research, as well as the brand creation.
