Romanian tax inspectors discover damages of EUR 344 mln

Anti-fraud inspectors found damages of EUR 344 million between January and April, when they searched over 8,721 companies.

The tax inspectors opened 283 criminal cases, according to the Tax Authority ANAF. Over 87% of the cases dealt with damages of over EUR 1 million.

The inspectors sent the complaints to the territorial Prosecutor’s offices, the Directorate for Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) or the National Anticorruption Directorate.

Inspectors suspended the activity of 474 units for not issuing tax receipts, namely 5.43% of the total searches.
