Romanian Simona Halep loses third place in WTA ranking

Romanian tennis player Simona Halep lost the third place in the WTA ranking of the best women’s tennis players in the world, going down to fourth place. She was surpassed by Czech player Petra Kvitova.

Halep, who started the year with a victory in the Shenzhen Open, was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open. She currently has 5,672 WTA points.

The first three women’s tennis players in the world are now American Serena Williams, the winner of the Australian Open, who has 9,777 WTA points, Russian Maria Sharapova, with 8,210 points, and Czech Petra Kvitova, with 6,291 points.

The second best ranked Romania is Irina-Camelia Begu, on 34. Monica Niculescu is on 61, and Alexandra Dulgheru is 97th.

Simona Halep this week plays in the Dubai Open.
